

Historic England protects and promotes England's historic environment and heritage.
You will co-ordinate listing and development advice casework; research and assess historic places including buildings, archaeological remains and designed landscapes; and log and process casework.

As part of the funding agreement with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority to be eligible for this placement you must be aged 22 years or over and live in Cambridgeshire.
You will be required to start at the end of January 2026/early February due to funding restrictions this date cannot be moved.
You will have gained basic knowledge of planning processes and heritage protection which will be valuable to roles in public sector organisations such as local authorities, smaller private sector planning consultancies, and heritage charities.
This is a part-time 6 week paid placement funded by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority. We offer hybrid working where you are based in the Cambridge office and from home.
This placement will give you knowledge, skills and experience that will enhance your future career prospects. Once you have completed your time with us you will have gained work experience and an overview of historic environment advice that will enable you to build a career within many areas of the heritage sector. You will also have gained administration, research and report writing skills which are transferable to a range of industries.
