- Oversee lifecycle management of all mechanical assets, including procurement, utilization, and disposal.
- Develop and execute fleet management strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Ensure adherence to transportation laws, health and safety codes, and regulatory standards.
- Manage workshops, service centers, and mobile repair operations.
- Lead the planning and budgeting for fleet maintenance, replacements, and upgrades.
- Champion the adoption of fleet management systems (FMS), telematics, and diagnostic technologies.
- Collaborate with IT and data teams to enhance real-time tracking, predictive maintenance, and analytics.
- Ensure compliance with mechanical safety standards, environmental regulations, and OEM guidelines.
- Drive initiatives for fleet modernization, emissions reduction, and operational efficiency.
- Manage parts inventory, supply chain relationships, and vendor contracts.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff.
- Establish performance metrics, conduct evaluations, and ensure ongoing technical training.
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Promote a safety-first culture across all maintenance and operations teams.
- Monitor KPIs and produce detailed reports on fleet performance, downtime, costs, and risks.

- OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification – Safety and compliance management
- Project Management Professional (PMP) – For managing complex fleet or maintenance projects
- Expertise in heavy vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and workshop management.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification (preferred).
- Office-based with frequent visits to workshops, garages, and operational sites.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspect vehicles and equipment, which may involve physical activity.
- Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) – NAFA Fleet Management Association
- DOT Compliance Training – For fleets regulated by FMCSA or DOT
- Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) – Process improvement and operational efficiency
- Certified Sustainable Fleet Professional (CSFP) – Environmental and sustainability best practices (optional)
- Certified Equipment Manager (CEM) – Association of Equipment Management Professionals
- Proficiency in fleet management software and telematics.
- ASE Master Technician Certification (Automotive or Truck Series – ASE)
- Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP) – American Public Works Association (for public sector roles)
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in fleet maintenance or mechanical operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Deep understanding of safety, environmental, and transportation regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
