Key duties include operating CNC presses, punches, plasma cutters, and other machinery, reading prints, cutting lists and work orders, and accurately using measurement tools such as scales, squares, protractors and tape measures. Employees must keep records for preventative maintenance and inventory, inspect equipment for faults, and move material with overhead cranes, forklifts or pallet jacks as directed.
Maintaining a clean, orderly work area, following prescribed safety rules, and upholding quality standards are essential. Workers are also expected to report unsafe conditions, suggest improvements to leadership, and perform any other related tasks as requested.
The role requires operational knowledge of a variety of structural‑department equipment, including shear, auto‑beam welders, plate and flange lines, tack stations, CNC plasma, paint lines, welding, and crane or mobile equipment. Successful candidates must be willing to go where help is needed, maintain a positive attitude, and continuously seek improvement.
