  • Participate in design for manufacturing (DFM) reviews
  • Support pilot production runs
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses
  • Conduct feasibility studies and design reviews for new product concepts
  • Optimize product performance for efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness
  • Analyze test data and implement design improvements based on findings
  • Design and develop innovative consumer products including fittings, risers, meters, regulators, and associated tools.
  • Stay current with evolving gas safety regulations and industry standards
  • Support sales teams with technical expertise during customer presentations
  • Support junior Engineers on projects with technical mentorship
  • Work with supply chain teams on component sourcing and cost optimization
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation using Solidworks.
  • Ensure all products meet applicable safety codes and standards (ASTM, CSA, UL, ANSI, etc.)
  • Conduct performance testing
  • Partner with marketing teams to understand customer needs and market requirements
  • Oversee validation and safety testing to ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams on product reliability
  • Coordinate with third-party testing laboratories for certification requirements
  • Implement fail-safe mechanisms and safety features in product designs
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for production

  • Strong understanding of new product design procedures and principles
  • Knowledge of gas codes and safety standards (NFPA, IRC, UMC)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Physical prototyping experience
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with 3D Printing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with gas, LPG utilities
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks required)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (required if candidate in Edmonton, CAN)
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Familiarity with materials science and manufacturing processes
  • 5+ years of experience in new product development, preferably in utility industries
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • Experience with natural gas, water delivery, or LPG systems engineering preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
