Description

The Product Engineer Co‑Op works under a mentor to gain hands‑on experience across product design, manufacturing and testing. The position follows a three‑rotation schedule—Summer 2026 (May‑Aug), Winter 2027 (Jan‑Apr) and Fall 2027 (Sept‑Dec)—with an hourly rate of $18 that increases by $0.50 each rotation. The role is designed to build core engineering skills and confidence for increasingly complex tasks within California Closets’ development process.

• Create parts and assemblies in CAD software and release them via Engineer Change Notice.
• Develop or modify technical specifications under Product Engineer direction.
• Prototype products and applications.
• Design, execute, and document testing protocols, including lab reports.
• Mock up existing parts to evaluate proposed changes or new products.
• Maintain project schedule and budget, and assist Engineering Product Engineers.
• Operate and maintain the test lab; perform other duties assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Requirements

• Required education: high school diploma (or equivalent) and current enrollment in college or recent graduate (engineering preferred).
• Completed at least one lab‑based course with experience writing lab reports.
• Completed coursework in 3D CAD software (e.g., OnShape or SolidWorks).
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with limited supervision.
• Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to use shop tools such as chop saw, hand drills, nail gun, and drivers.
• Physical ability to lift/carry up to 50 lb, climb stairs and perform occasional bending, twisting, reaching, with exposure to dust and loud noise.
