Quality Lead Engineer

Description

As the Quality Lead Engineer for the Controls Engineering organization, you will support multiple Gas Power business lines across the four Quality Workstreams—Zero Defect Culture, New Product Introduction, Supply Base Quality, and Management of Change—while collaborating closely with the Controls Quality Leader to enhance engineering quality throughout the product lifecycle.

You will oversee day‑to‑day quality operations for a global team of over 1,000 engineers, coordinating issue resolution, QMS auditing for ISO accreditation, and monthly operating reviews, and you will partner with corporate, Gas Power, and Controls quality communities to embed a zero‑defect culture.

• Partner with Controls Quality Leader as Quality Lead Engineer supporting four Quality Workstreams: Zero Defect Culture, New Product Introduction, Supply Base Quality, and Management of Change.
• Support front‑line customers by addressing quality issues and driving upstream process improvements.
• Improve engineering quality execution and broader Gas Power quality initiatives.
• Oversee daily quality operations for a global team of 1,000+ engineers.
• Coordinate quality issue resolution and QMS audit activities for ISO accreditation, including desk‑side and framework audits.
• Conduct quality management reviews and support Monthly Operating Reviews with Controls leadership.
• Collaborate with corporate, Gas Power, and Controls quality communities to promote a zero‑defect culture.
• Expand use of problem‑solving tools (root‑cause analysis, continuous improvement) to enhance quality, efficiency, capacity, and reliability.
• Manage continuous improvement processes such as Non‑Conformance Reports, Root‑Cause Analyses, and Problem‑Solving Reports.
• Maintain and enhance daily quality dashboards and data queries.
• Empower Controls Engineering teams to identify and act on quality improvement opportunities locally.
• Recognize and share quality lessons learned across the organization.

Requirements

The position requires a bachelor’s degree and at least eight years of engineering experience, preferably in the power generation industry, with demonstrated ability to coach, apply root‑cause analysis, drive continuous improvement, and influence outcomes in a large, matrixed organization.

• Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum eight years of engineering experience, preferably in power generation.
• Demonstrated coaching and teaching abilities.
• Practical knowledge of root‑cause analysis techniques and tools.
• Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and responsive skills.
• Proven experience driving quality improvement within an engineering organization.
• Ability to challenge the status quo and lead continuous improvement in a globally matrixed environment.
• Comfortable handling conflict while acting as a collaborator and facilitator.
• Systems thinker with strong analytical and data‑driven decision‑making skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication focused on customer needs.
