In essence, the manager contributes to driving the technological advancement and data-informed decisions within the retail division.
Oversee day-to-day Retail Data Operations.
Maintain and operationalize the data catalog, business glossary, and metadata management practices.
Monitor and optimize data pipelines, ETL processes, and application performance.
Define KPIs and build interactive dashboards for analytics and reporting.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Manage design, development, and deployment of data applications leveraging existing tools and services.
Manage a lean and high-performance team, mentoring and guiding data engineers, BI developers, and analysts.
Ensure integration of data from multiple retail systems into centralized platforms.
The Data Application Manager (Retail) is pivotal in establishing and optimizing data management capabilities within the Retail sector of Al-Futtaim. This role focuses on supporting and enhancing the data strategy through effective data engineering, analytics, and operational practices. The manager acts as a bridge between retail business needs and technical execution, ensuring that data is accurately managed and harnessed for maximum business value. Working within the Global Technology & Digital Platform framework, the role demands close collaboration with various stakeholders including IT partners, data governance professionals, and enterprise architects to ensure compliance with data standards and security.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with an ability to drive organizational change across business and IT sectors.
Understand and enforce robust security measures, including identity management and role-based access control.
12+ years of experience in Data Engineering and Analytics including implementation, transformation, and support.
Expertise in data modeling, data design activities, and experience with SAP solutions such as S/4, SAP BW, and SAP BO. Proficiency in PowerBI, Tableau, and Alteryx is essential.
Exceptional communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong retail business domain knowledge and proficiency with data management tools and languages like Azure Platform, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, MS Fabric, SQL, Python, and PySpark.
Proficiency in analytical solutions and data management, especially on Azure and SAP platforms.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline.
Ability to manage and deliver Retail Data Projects with high attention to detail and a structured approach.
