The Senior Estimator joins the pre‑construction team to support estimating efforts, working closely with preconstruction managers, project executives, and project managers. With 90 % of projects delivered through alternative methods, you will guide cost estimating from the initial conceptual design stage through the development of the final Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP). The role emphasizes Lean principles and the Target Value Design (TVD) process, and it involves building strong relationships with clients, design professionals, trade partners, and local communities.
Key duties include interpreting the CSI MasterFormat, collaborating with architects and trade contractors to resolve constructability issues, and developing comprehensive budgets from limited design information. You will perform quantity take‑offs, apply unit prices across all divisions, review trade partner pricing, and prepare full project estimates from concept to GMP for CMAR, GC/CM, and design‑build contracts. Managing multiple estimates, leading project meetings, and maintaining a cost‑estimating database while applying historical data and productivity rates are essential. Continuous improvement through Lean practices and ensuring error‑free, complete estimates are also required.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail‑oriented, and thrives in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment. Strong interpersonal skills, a sense of urgency, and a collaborative, positive attitude are critical for success. Required qualifications include 5–10 years of estimating experience in healthcare, life sciences, education, or commercial projects, a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering, and proficiency with MS Excel, on‑screen take‑off, scheduling software, and preferably DESTINI Estimator and Procore.
