Description
Make on-site change order decisions and negotiate with contractors and commit the SCA's resources on such change orders.
Ensure the quality and high standards of performance and compliance in design, construction, and contracts by all consultants, vendors, et al.
Administration and coordination of activities for the design and construction of the more complex and/or high visibility construction and modernization projects under the guidance of a senior-level Project Officer.
Provide mentorship, guidance and advice to junior level project officers.
Responsibilities include coordinative, problem solving, and managerial functions for these projects.
Make decisions on phasing and schedules; prepare and/or manage preparation of schedules for planning, design and construction, monitoring progress, and ensuring adherence to approved schedules across stakeholders.
Participate in the development, issuance, review, and recommendations of project procedures and policies in adherence with Authority-wide procedures and policies.
Review contractors' claims or disputed work, compile necessary project / contract documentation, and advise senior management as to appropriate action related to adjudication.
Work with architect/engineer of record regarding change orders, interpretation of contract documents, shop drawing submittals/approvals and other technical matters as required, ensuring a structurally sound, code compliant and aesthetic facility.
Review design and construction documents, and corrects mistakes and errors in design and construction as early in the construction process as possible.
Resolve issues and problems raised in field reports made by architects and construction management staff.
Make decisions and take action in a timely manner to expedite the timely completion of the construction process.
Provide ongoing communication with key stakeholders such as contractors, construction managers, local school personnel and Senior Project Officers on project issues.
