Under the guidance of a Lead Technician, Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager, a Maintenance Technician A repairs and maintains diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis components, refuse bodies, air brake systems, engines, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain, and steering. The role offers the chance to work on a single fleet equipped with state‑of‑the‑art technology while supporting drivers on their routes.
The technician must maintain advanced knowledge and strong skill proficiency in vehicle systems to perform complex repairs both on‑site and on the road. Responsibilities include chassis component repair, refuse body control, hydraulic and electrical systems, air and hydraulic brakes, engine work, suspension, drivetrain, steering, heating and air conditioning, and welding/fabrication. They also identify malfunctions using electronic tools, complete required training, and perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Candidates need at least three years of heavy‑duty truck experience and the ability to inspect and repair systems such as suspensions, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, and diesel emissions without constant supervision. ASE Heavy Truck Certifications, LNG/CNG experience, and a Class B Commercial Driver’s License are advantageous but not mandatory. A valid driver’s license is required.
