As part of the Hydrology & Hydrogeology technical discipline, you will be a core member of the team, assisting with data collection, baseline studies, and data analysis. Our technical teams prioritise safe, high-quality work, using cutting edge tools and the support of senior staff with a wide array of experience. Through studies investigating groundwater and surface water management, ecological values, and infrastructure engineering across multiple industries, our team members develop strong skillsets and have an impact with our clients.

  • Assess data and trends to provide assessments of data integrity, trends, and mechanisms related to water movement within surface water and groundwater systems.
  • Prepare quality factual reports based on field and laboratory data collected for or provided by clients.
  • Perform field studies that may include hydrogeological site investigations, drilling programs, monitoring bore installations and hydraulic testing.
  • Be Health and Safety leaders within our business and as representatives of SLR’s safety culture while on client operations.
  • Undertake integrated monitoring programs which include groundwater, surface water, soils and air quality sampling while following SLR procedures and industry best practice.
  • Maintain and utilise automated telemetry data capture tools.

We are interested in Hydrogeologists/Earth Scientists with a minimum of two years’ experience, ideally on a mine site, and looking to develop their career as a consultant. The role would suit someone who enjoys the outdoors, data collection, and learning about water management. The role provides the opportunity to be remunerated for work away from home through time in lieu and/or overtime pay.

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in groundwater data analysis and interpretation would be advantageous.
  • Manual driver’s licence and previous 4WD experience and training is highly desirable
  • Either have a completed a short course in hydrogeology or hold University qualifications (Bachelor Degree or higher) in Science or Engineering, specializing in Hydrogeology or a related field (remuneration packages will vary based on qualifications and experience).
  • Mine site experience is highly regarded. Associated training certificates including Standard 11, Supervisor qualifications (S1S2S3G2) or other
  • Working knowledge of QLD groundwater legislation and policies, standards and guidelines, is highly desirable, but not a pre-requisition for the role.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and remotely to undertake monitoring projects – often a week at a time
  • Australian citizenship/working rights are essential
  • Practical experience in the field of water management, with demonstrated skills in the areas of groundwater monitoring and sampling data analysis. Geological or geotechnical logging experience, groundwater bore drilling and construction, data analysis and report writing would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrate great communication skills within project teams and with client representatives, site personnel, suppliers and laboratory personnel to support the smooth delivery of the field work.
