Senior Construction Manager

Description

• Coordinate resources for effective timeline adherence
• Monitor progress, address delays, and implement recovery plans
• Ensure timely delivery to project specifications
• Serve as primary contractor liaison
• Manage Inspection and Test Plan implementation
• Oversee quality assurance and readiness surveys
• Promote and enforce strong safety standards
• Ensure compliance with contracts, standards, and safety regulations
• Oversee construction throughout all project phases
• Develop and track project schedules and milestones
• Ensures compliance with quality standards and safety regulations
• Provide consistent updates on progress, risks, and solutions
• Recommend cost-effective solutions and resource optimization
• Assess contractor staff competence continually
• Regular site visits for progress evaluation and reporting
• Collaborate closely with planners for productivity
• Conduct recorded safety tours and inspections

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years’ professional experience with at least 5 years’ in specialism including Construction, Engineering and Management in large scale multidisciplinary railway engineering and construction projects, or projects of a similar nature
• Strong understanding of railway construction processes and materials
• Knowledge of engineering and construction assurance, with ability to assure works from technical drawings
• Adaptable to challenges and changing conditions
• Stakeholder management experience on major projects
• Ability to contribute to project delivery and commercial strategy development for large-scale initiatives
• Experience implementing health, safety, environmental, and quality management processes
• At least Higher Certificate degree (or equivalent) in relevant subject area e.g., engineering, construction, project management or Ordinary Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field would be advantageous
• Proven capability in delivering complex infrastructure works
• Strong and effective team leadership and stakeholder communication
• Track record in promoting and maintaining high health and safety standards
• Proficient in cost monitoring and resource allocation
• Expertise in developing and managing project plans and schedules
• Deep knowledge of Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2020; railway project experience
• NEC 4 Contract suite expertise and commercial awareness
• Skilled in risk identification and mitigation
• Professional Membership in MCIOB or MICE (or equivalent) – or working towards this
• Additional Professional Qualifications in Engineering or Construction/Project Management would be advantageous
