The Estimator role prepares timely and accurate bid estimates for medium to large sized projects/programs within an assigned line of Business, Region, or Division, and helps plan all projects with expectations for the efficient use of personnel, equipment, materials and subcontractors within contract requirements, time guidelines and other restrictions.
- Communicating with influence and presenting effectively to client group and team members
- Interfacing with various internal and external stakeholders on planning and scheduling related items and functions, including reporting requirements, progress reporting, complaint schedules, etc.
- Providing insight to thought leadership in the continuous improvement of methodology, tools, and approaches using fundamentals of H&M Project Management practices
- Leading bid strategy and presentation discussions
- Proactively identifying and suggesting solutions for known or anticipated construction problems to minimize cost and reduce risk
- Assisting field personnel in developing and/or recommending change orders to scope as needed
- Procuring materials and/or credits
- Ensuring that bid deadlines and customer presentation requirements are met
- Traveling to job locations to confirms project site conditions
- Following awarded contracts to monitor extra work items
- Preparing and maintaining all bid documentation

This role requires strong understanding of the major business components and implications specific to estimating and cost control for Construction Companies while ensuring compliance with the Henkels & McCoy established Project Management Methodology and upholding H&M safety and quality management protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed prints and specifications for conceptual, lump sum, or unit pricing
- Completion of H&M PMM training and some formal Project Management coursework
- Ability to support with bid schedules is preferred, including MS Project and/or Primavera 6
- 5+ years of experience with bidding/estimating utility construction projects - including Distribution, Transmission, Substation, and/or Civil Power projects
- Experienced with relevant estimating software (B2W Preferred) and MS Office Suite
- Highly complex problem-solving skills
- Experience in estimating mid-scale projects and advanced knowledge of construction and utility industry practices
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, related field, and/or equivalent work experience
