

Integrated electric utility delivering clean hydroelectric power across British Columbia via generation, transmission and distribution.
* Prepare annual TPL assessment report for an assigned regional transmission system to demonstrate BC Hydro's compliance to MRS or NERC Standards from transmission planning perspective.
* Provide leadership and chair meetings for any technical discussion related to transmission system planning with internal and external stakeholders.
* Respond to information inquiries from the public, provincial government, BC Utility Commission, etc. to fulfill BC Hydro's commitments specified in Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT), regulatory process and Revenue Requirement Application (RRA), as well as from public consultation process for capital investment justification and project development.
* Play the role of subject matter expert in system planning to support various BC Hydro business processes, including power system modelling, system operations, distribution planning, Integrated Resource Planning, load interconnections, transmission asset sustaining (both lines and stations), economic development, key account customer services, etc.
* Initiate transmission reinforcement projects by providing justification, option comparison, probabilistic reliability study, economic analysis, and risk assessment. Prepare project investment summary to support BC Hydro Capital Planning process and capital project development process.
* Develop and maintain effective professional relationship with internal and external stakeholders in addressing service requests for performing specialized studies, such as load forecast, load interconnections, generation interconnections, integrated resource planning, capital planning, economic business development, etc.
* As delegate of project initiator, support a project through the BC Hydro capital infrastructure project delivery process, including Needs Identification, Conceptual Design, Feasibility Design and Project Definition Phase.
* Be responsible for an assigned regional transmission system and develop both near-term (up to 5 years) and long-term (greater than 5 years) transmission reinforcement plans.
* Conduct transmission voltage customer (TVC) load interconnection system impact study (SIS), initiate transmission reinforcement project scope to accommodate new load supplies, and draft load interconnection SIS reports including all technical inputs from various disciplines including Station Planning, Transmission Line Design, Analytical Studies, Protection and Controls Planning, Telecom Planning, etc.
* Perform power system analysis including load flow study and transient stability simulation for a regional transmission system to identify potential system constraints, develop viable system reinforcement alternatives, and verify system performance of the recommended solutions.

* Demonstrated experience in electric power system studies specifically related to load flow, voltage stability, transient stability, etc.
* Graduated with a Bachelors Degree or higher academic degree in Electrical Engineering, recognized by Canadian Universities with experience in Electric Power System.
* Knowledge on electromagnetics simulation is an asset.

* Hands-on skills on transmission system analysis using power system simulation tools: PSS/E, GE-PSLF, DSATools.
* Applicants who do not meet the full qualifications or those with lesser work experience may be considered for a lower-level position.
* Preference will be given to candidates with strong academic background on power system, expertise in planning and operation of transmission systems, and knowledge of power utility business, transmission services and public utility regulation.

Annual Salary: $ 87,700.00 - 110,900.00
