Fitters at Veritas Steel’s Palatka location perform all fitting operations, primarily grinding, along with repairs and assorted tasks. They must meet high production demands promptly, deliver high‑quality work, and follow company policies to maintain a safe environment.
- Use proper safety while building iconic bridge projects in America
- Drill, install high‑strength bolts, and grind steel components
- Produce fillet and groove welds using SMAW, SAW, and FCAW processes
- Maintain a clean, organized work area
- Participate in continual improvement activities
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Handle time pressures, long hours, rapidly changing priorities, and stress effectively
- Push or move objects up to 50 lb of force
- Pull up to 122 lb of force
- Stand, walk, stoop, and kneel for up to 99 % of the shift
- Work indoors in a large warehouse or outdoors in all weather conditions
- Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, steel‑toed boots; use respirator for specific operations

Benefits
The 2nd shift starts at $18.72 per hour with a 53‑hour work week. Schedule: Monday‑Thursday 4:30 pm – 4:30 am, Friday 2:30 pm – 9:30 pm, with double time after 50 hours worked. New hires will train on the 1st shift, Monday‑Friday 5 am – 4:30 pm.
