Directly performs the work of designers and drafters of a design group for a business line technology. This work includes the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 3-D Design models and 2-D construction drawings.
Participates in one or more of the following:

Reviews or defines engineering scope changes, as required, for project management.

Preparation or review of engineering studies and reports
Reviews design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a moderate degree of complexity and prepares comments and recommendations. Assists in preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs and change orders.
Reviewing and checking designs, drawings, and data by other engineers or by suppliers
Preparation or review of material quantity estimates
Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort.

Application of computer aided engineering (CAE) / computer aided design (CAD) tools to engineering problems.
Knowledge of discipline Design Guides, mathematical formulae and design calculations used in the discipline.
A recognized diploma / course in an engineering or scientific discipline, with extensive experience in piping layout design and drafting.
Specialized courses in drafting, design and engineering practices, and CAD, OR
Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria and codes relevant to the discipline.
Knowledge of 3D/2D tools, as applicable to the specific discipline work. Working experience on SP3D is mandatory.
Basic skill in oral and written communication.
Technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and construction methods and materials, and application of computer aided design (CAD) tools to engineering design.
Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline’s design responsibilities.
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Requires a basic knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, 2-D and 3-D CAD, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
Experience Level: Minimum of 13+ years of working as Piping Designer. Experience of working on OG&C, Semiconductor, Data Center or Power projects will be an additional advantage.
Understands roles played by other disciplines on the project. Contacts counterpart in other disciplines, supplier/client representatives and project field personnel when directed, to either gather or give information.
