The CNA is expected to uphold safety standards, document care accurately, and collaborate with the care team throughout resident admissions, transfers and discharges.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as ambulation, bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, and personal hygiene.
- Follow resident care plans and support hydration, nutrition, elimination, exercise, and other specialized care under nurse direction.
- Report changes in resident condition (behavior, mood, activity level, appetite, vitals, etc.) to nursing staff.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and supervisors to meet psychosocial needs.
- Uphold resident rights and maintain a clean, safe environment complying with infection control and universal precautions.
- Clean bodily fluid spills promptly and ensure safe transfer of residents using call lights and assistance.
- Set up and break down meals daily and respond promptly to resident call lights.
- Participate in admission, transfer, and discharge procedures and transport residents to activities.
- Document required data accurately and timely using appropriate forms.
- Identify safety hazards or emergencies and take immediate corrective action.
- Follow dress code, maintain personal hygiene, and adhere to the Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct.
- Work reliably, arrive on time for scheduled shifts, and maintain consistent attendance.
- Contribute to a positive, healthy, and safe work environment and support team collaboration.
- Attend required in‑service training to maintain DCW Registry eligibility and current certification.
- Greet residents warmly by name with a smile and treat everyone with courteous respect.
- Anticipate resident needs, listen actively, and respond enthusiastically and promptly.
- Hold oneself and colleagues accountable, maintain professionalism in conduct and appearance.
