The primary responsibilities include acting as the key engineering interface for day‑to‑day plant maintenance and operations, supporting maintenance outage planning and implementation, maintaining or improving equipment condition and performance, identifying and assisting in resolution of emergent equipment issues, coordinating with vendors, preparing and maintaining technical documentation and performance history records, assisting maintenance and operations with troubleshooting, startup and shutdown tasks, and providing engineering support for a 24×7 operation.
The role also involves assisting on smaller engineering projects or defined portions of larger projects, using existing procedures to develop technically correct and cost‑effective designs or recommendations, building relationships for knowledge transfer, gathering and correlating engineering data through testing and studies, and contributing to innovative procedures, design improvements, or equipment purchase recommendations.
Basic qualifications require a bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related science discipline accredited by ABET (or substantially equivalent). Minimum experience varies by level: Support Engineer – 2 years; Senior Engineer – 5 years; Principal Engineer – 10 years with recognized expertise in power‑plant engineering.
Preferred qualifications include a working knowledge of power plants, the ability to work independently with minimal oversight, multitasking amid changing priorities, and experience with large rotating equipment such as turbines, generators, fans, and pumps.
