BAU Outside Plant Engineer

Description

• Meet with municipal officials to discuss road and utility projects, with travel reimbursed.
• Locate and evaluate Frontier facilities, coordinating impacts with project managers and municipal engineers.
• Develop relocation plans with other utilities to minimize conflicts and avoid delays.
• Process OSP work orders including service orders, subdivisions, road moves, dark fiber MDU, and aerial or underground installations.
• Update design and project systems such as FROGS, CAD, Varasset, and SiteTracker.
• Coordinate make‑ready work, pole replacements, and service requests with power and communication providers.
• Prepare and submit permits to local, state, and federal agencies (DOT, DNR, railroad, pipeline).
• Partner with SSP contractors to ensure timely, cost‑effective construction and address plant damage repair requests.

Requirements

Pearce is seeking an experienced OSP Engineer to lead copper and fiber outside‑plant projects. The role involves estimating, analyzing, designing, and planning OSP initiatives while tracking budgets and ensuring compliance with company and industry standards. The engineer will coordinate with municipal agencies, contractors, and utilities to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high‑quality standards, balancing field work with permitting, reporting, and cross‑team collaboration.

Candidates must reside within one hour of a range of locations across Kentucky, West Virginia, and Ohio, including Ashland, KY; Huntington, WV; and multiple Ohio cities such as Lancaster and Marietta. This proximity enables timely travel for project meetings, inspections, and surveys.

• 3–5+ years experience in copper and fiber‑optic telecommunications engineering, broadband design, and OSP construction.
• 5+ years in network engineering or related field; strong knowledge of fiber record management, cable counts, and permitting.
• Proficiency with FROGS, CAD, Frontier mapping, design tools, and permitting systems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and travel as needed for meetings, inspections, and surveys.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with municipal officials, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

Pearce follows fair and transparent pay practices; base salary ranges from $37 to $38 USD, with additional compensation possible through performance bonuses, referral incentives, production bonuses, and stipends for tools, equipment, or fuel.
