The BIM Manager role focuses on aligning BIM requirements with project contracts and delivering high‑quality digital design outcomes. This position develops and implements BIM execution plans, oversees model health, and drives clash detection and resolution across all project phases. The manager also provides training, technical guidance, and ensures clear communication with internal teams, consultants, and clients. Collaboration with other BIM leads and contribution to firm‑wide digital initiatives are key components of the role.
Leadership responsibilities include mentoring staff, defining expectations, delegating tasks, and fostering a positive, interdisciplinary team culture. The manager supports sustainable design strategies, contributes to standards and policies, and represents SOM at industry events related to BIM and emerging technologies. Protecting the firm from financial and legal risk through diligent quality control is also essential.
The ideal candidate holds a professional degree in architecture or a related field, possesses at least six years of relevant experience, and demonstrates advanced proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, BIM, and AutoCAD. Experience with parametric and rendering tools, ISO 19650, LEED, and BIM information management is highly valued. Ongoing professional development and licensure pursuit are encouraged.
