
Coordinate with other trades including electricians, plumbers, and general contractors
Ensure proper grounding, circuit protection, and electrical safety practices
Communicate progress and technical issues to project managers and customers
Follow National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes for all installations
Program and configure basic control sequences and setpoints
Work from blueprints, specifications, and job schedules with minimal supervision
Read and interpret building plans, electrical schematics, and control drawings
Diagnose and repair malfunctioning control systems and components
Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic equipment
Install and wire HVAC control systems including sensors, actuators, controllers, and related components
Mount and connect control panels, thermostats, and field devices per manufacturer specifications
Document work performed and maintained accurate service records
Perform preventive maintenance on existing HVAC control systems
Ensure work meets quality standards and project timelines
Pull wire and install conduit systems according to blueprints and electrical specifications
Strong understanding of electrical circuits, power distribution, and control wiring
Trade Skills
Hands-on experience pulling wire, installing conduit, and electrical terminations
Technical degree or trade school certification preferred
3+ years' experience in HVAC controls installation and service
EPA certification
OSHA 10 or 30-hour safety certification
Experience with pneumatic and electronic control systems
Experience with specific control platforms (Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Trane, Siemens, etc.)
We are seeking a skilled HVAC Controls Field Technician to install control systems in commercial and industrial buildings. This hands-on position requires expertise in controls technology, electrical systems, and the ability to work independently from technical drawings and specifications.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and control drawings
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
High school diploma or equivalent required
Knowledge of National Electrical Code and local electrical regulations
Proficiency with building automation systems (BACnet, LonWorks, Modbus preferred)
Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in various environmental conditions
Familiarity with hand and power tools used in electrical and controls work
This position requires working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and construction sites with exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and noise. Must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces when necessary.
