Initiates various special projects related to estimating.
Performs quantity take-offs, organizes, prices, and analyzes information.
Champions “The Layton Way” by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
Prepares estimates and supplementary information for potential projects.
Assists and guides staff towards completion of special projects.
Prepares and analyzes estimate formats in such areas as general conditions, general bidding, quantity takeoffs and bid analysis.
Communicates with subs and suppliers to clarify pricing information. Determines the suitability and competitive stance of subs and suppliers.
Attends Owner meetings during estimate development.
Reads, understands, and offers improvements to the contract documents (plans, specifications & addenda). Offers Value-Engineering and Life-Cycle cost options for review.
Prepares detailed schedules for proposed projects.
Is responsible for the preparation of bid proposal for submittal.
Ensures that “Constructing with Integrity” is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers. Creates listings of appropriate contacts for specific projects.
Initiates schematic plans or sketches to illustrate approach and strategy.

Proven working knowledge of Destini Estimator software, BlueBeam, Assemble, and other latest software and technology.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction related field or equivalent education and experience.
Ability to operate office equipment, computer, printer, phone, copier, fax, etc.
Effective written, verbal and presentation skills.
Fully understands and practices the principles of Target Value Design.
Works well with Architects and Owners and provides leadership in the preconstruction process and demonstrates best practices throughout preconstruction.
Has experience in estimating at all stages of design: conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents.
Possesses sufficient knowledge of all construction systems and disciplines, including mechanical and electrical, in order to complete comprehensive cost estimates without assistance from others.
Understands the difference between the narrow focus of just cost estimating services and the broader scope of preconstruction services.
Has the ability to utilize the latest estimating software used by Layton.
Presents well in interviews and in all meetings with clients.
Working knowledge of Revit and Primavera systems.
Good working knowledge of self-performed concrete construction.
Understands and utilizes proven estimating and bidding strategies.
Ability to work under pressure, meets tight deadlines, and coordinate team members.
Excellent knowledge of construction practices, methods, trends and crew data.
Over seven years’ experience in estimating commercial construction projects, demonstrating competence in hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating.
