Maintaining and checking the S3D model to ensure accuracy, and resolution of interferences.
Maintain notes, design calculations and other documentation (e.g., drawings, bills of materials, lists of design parameters, and performance guarantees) for current and future reference.
For FOAK design, create and check manufacturing technical data packs and 2D detail component drawings to ensure fabricated components are produced in accordance with the design specifications.
Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
Support procedure inputs and reviews as required.
Lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities, listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, without close supervision and some latitude for independent judgment.
For FOAK design, ensure SSCs are properly designed and integrated into the design of the overall system and/or plant to meet their component level functions and requirements.
Collaborate in planning, scheduling, and organization of detailed phases of engineering work.
Utilize S3D (formerly SmartPlant 3D) to create 3D piping design models within and supporting the SMR plant, including but not limited to equipment layout, pipe routing, pipe support design, maintenance and accessway volumes.
Assess models for manufacturability as well as assembly and integration considerations.
Building relationships that will facilitate knowledge transfer, cross functional knowledge of related work groups, and ability to present work products effectively.
Lead small groups of designers to solve complex technical problems and deliver high quality engineering work products on time and within budget.
For FOAK design, engage vendors in the design and manufacturing of defined and package systems and their related components. Show initiative in suggesting design changes and improvements to the design of components, factoring in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
Adhere to filing guidelines for drawings to maintain up-to-date drawings.
Identify and follow XE processes, procedures, and guides, as well as best CAD modelling and drafting practices, and maintain communication with other team members to ensure the consistency and standardization of practices and design.
Incorporate 3D representations of components into the plant model and verify compatibility with connecting interfaces.
Assist in the definition and development of system/component geometric interfaces.
Creating Piping isometrics, general equipment layout drawings, material take off lists etc.
Work closely with the responsible engineers to develop mechanical/ physical concepts, designs, and processes to create SSCs related to the project to which they are assigned.
Maintain system and model compatibility in X-energy’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and Plant Design Environments (PDE), including the 3D CAD applications.
Perform a variety of design/drafting activities for the engineering group including preparing and updating manufacturing drawings.
Provide feedback and guidance to more junior team members with the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document.
Utilize NX or other CAD software to develop 2D and 3D component designs.
Create relevant 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings of various equipment, equipment integration, plant layout, structures, systems and/or components (based on assigned project). These may include, but are not limited to: process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), isometric drawings (Isos), piping arrangements, equipment arrangements, etc.
Serve as an information source on planning and design of equipment installations: equipment and plant engineering.

Culture + Values
50% Growth
Global Energy Growth
Global energy demand is expected to rise by 50% over the next 30 years, driven by population growth and economic development.
We’re empowering Solar, wind and hydro are parts of the solution. Nuclear is the only pure base‑load, load‑following, highly scalable, locatable anywhere, stand‑alone or complementary solution. It's an integral piece of the puzzle.
Zero Emissions: We believe in leaving a cleaner planet for our children and grandchildren, while continuing to provide sufficient and affordable power to sustain growing populations around the world.
Clean Water: X‑energy’s core competencies in HTGR design and high‑temperature fuel design/manufacture makes a unique and compelling combination to apply our skills to Nuclear Thermal Propulsion.
Space & Nuclear: The world is facing a pair of challenges … global energy demand is expected to rise by 50 % over the next 30 years. At the same time, we must significantly lower carbon emissions.
Our technology relies on physics, not mechanical systems.
