The role involves performing routine engineering tasks on less complex assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods, all under direct supervision. Primary duties include becoming familiar with engineering design and drafting standards, producing detailed design calculations, spreadsheets, reports, drawings, and sketches for various projects, and assisting in the development of conceptual process engineering designs and studies to identify the most efficient solutions. The intern will also help generate preliminary design estimates, material take‑offs, and support engineers and designers in meeting project safety, cost, schedule, and quality goals.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor of Science program in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.7.
Required skills include proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as strong verbal and written communication abilities. Familiarity with chemical and process engineering calculations (material and energy balances, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, mass transfer) and with simulation tools such as Aspen Plus, PRO/II, ChemCad, and hydraulic analysis software like AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, or SiNet is advantageous. Working knowledge of CAD platforms (AutoCAD or MicroStation) is also beneficial.
Physical demands involve the ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods. The position requires authorization to work in the United States.
