The Trading Operator is responsible for executing trades from contract conclusion by the Trading teams to cash collection, delivering seamless and effective service to Holcim’s business partners, ensuring the integrity of information flows, managing risks under the guidance of the Trading teams, and proposing improvements based on customer feedback.
In this role, the operator manages value creation with existing customers and suppliers across Holcim’s perimeter, overseeing smooth trade administration for bulk carriers, containers, and multimodal transportation, driving supply‑chain schedules, providing daily updates to stakeholders, and tracking cargo and shipping commitments while escalating performance issues to internal teams such as Traders, Shipping, Supply Chain, Legal, and Management.
Key responsibilities include conducting internal checks and controls, obtaining and issuing documentary, customs, and inventory documentation, coordinating vessel nomination with chartering managers, ensuring laytime calculations and claims are managed, initiating cash‑in/cash‑out processes, preparing reports and statistics for team leaders and traders, and sharing market intelligence collected through daily interactions with customers and suppliers.
The operator must adhere to the Holcim Code of Business Conduct, Trading Policy, Shipping Directive, and all relevant policies, protect the company’s reputation, anticipate and mitigate trade incidents, alert leadership to material risks such as missing letters of credit or policy breaches, and comply strictly with the operating model and segregation of duties.
Candidates should hold a commercial degree in international trading, shipping, logistics or a related field, have 3‑5 years of experience in trading, shipping, freight forwarding or supply‑chain logistics, possess strong knowledge of seaborne trade, multimodal transport, customs documentation, trade finance tools, and laytime concepts, be fluent in English and Spanish, and demonstrate a disciplined, detail‑oriented, and service‑oriented attitude in a multicultural environment.
