The Lift Station Repair Technician is a field-based role responsible for servicing and repairing sewage pump stations. The position involves electrical and plumbing tasks and requires entry into confined spaces such as manholes and wet wells.
Key duties include performing maintenance, replacement, and repair of lift station equipment, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and assisting with the installation, cleaning, maintenance, repair, or rebuilding of mechanical components. The technician also conducts diagnostic tests to evaluate equipment efficiency, prepares reports, and maintains electrical control panels.
The work environment may require responding to trouble alarms during normal hours and after hours, operating in adverse weather conditions, and performing physically demanding tasks such as climbing ladders up to 20 feet and lifting loads of up to 65 pounds.
Required knowledge and abilities include the capacity to work in confined spaces as defined by OSHA regulations, interpret written, oral, and diagram instructions, use tools and testing equipment for pump station maintenance, and understand basic electrical controls. Effective communication with customers, coworkers, and management, as well as basic computer literacy and math skills, are also essential.
Qualifications include being at least 21 years old, holding a valid driver’s license in good standing, and possessing two or more years of experience with lift station maintenance (preferred). Candidates must be able to pass DOT drug screening, medical certification, physical exams, and meet the physical demands of the role.
The base pay for this position is estimated at $23.00 hourly, with final compensation determined by factors such as location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
