In this role you will work with an experienced water and waste team to monitor and maintain water quality at treatment works and pumping stations, and to look after network infrastructure for local communities. You will also conduct risk assessments, follow health and safety protocols and provide out‑of‑hours cover on a 1:5 standby rota.
The position involves a significant amount of independent work, so self‑motivation and teamwork are essential. You must be comfortable using digital equipment and apps, produce clear short reports, and hold a full, valid driving licence for travel across the islands.
We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and make reasonable adjustments for disabilities, neurodiversity or temporary life challenges. Candidates must reside in Scotland or be willing to relocate within three months, and may be subject to drug and alcohol testing.
Scottish Water supports a healthy work‑life balance with 38 days of annual leave (including public holidays) and the option to purchase five additional days. Flexible working, paid volunteer time off, family‑friendly parental leave policies, a defined‑benefit pension and life assurance are also provided.
The role is graded at Level 4 with a starting salary of £30,440, progressing up to £35,260 based on performance. Employment is contingent on pre‑employment screening, including references, criminal record and licence checks, and offers are open until 3 February 2026.
Joining Scottish Water means making a real difference to the people and communities that rely on essential water services, while developing your career in an inclusive and supportive environment.
