The mechanical assembler performs highly repetitive work such as aligning, mounting, connecting, and installing assemblies or sub‑assemblies. The role relies on standard assembly procedures, power tools, hand tools, and equipment to complete tasks efficiently.
Key duties include completing assembly of intricate and expensive apparatus, machines, or equipment with many parts, and erecting very large and complicated units. This involves bolting, screwing, clipping, or otherwise fastening parts together using electric and pneumatic hand tools, as well as fitting, aligning, and adjusting to very close tolerances and strict inspection requirements. The work is highly diversified.
Candidates must have technical knowledge and the ability to follow standard work and procedures, as well as experience using power tools. They must be able to read and assemble to blueprints. Diesel mechanic and electrical experience is preferred.
