  • Coordinate with the team to ensure quality of data, perform field work, and produce documentation (e.g., written architectural descriptions and determinations of eligibility)
  • Conduct background research and archival research online and at libraries and repositories
  • Develop historic contexts and contextual analysis; prepare inventory forms and technical reports; assist with recommendations regarding eligibility under the National Register of Historic Places; and assist with report preparation (e.g., historic resources survey reports, historic context statements, and National Register eligibility evaluations)
  • Conduct built environment and historic architectural fieldwork on a regular basis, including photographing resources, and using mobile tablet for data collection; outoftown travel and some overnights can be expected

  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of an interdisciplinary team with other cultural resource and environmental professionals
  • Working knowledge of mapping; must be able to read a map and utilize a fairly simple map application on a tablet or cell phone
  • Must be willing to travel to meet project needs
  • Knowledge of Section 106 of National Historic Preservation Act preferred
  • Fluency using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as Adobe Acrobat
  • Requires valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Must have demonstrated strong technical writing, verbal communication, and research skills
  • Knowledge of the National Register of Historic Places and the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties preferred
  • One to a minimum five years of professional experience preferred; open to candidates with less than oneyear applicable experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Historic Preservation, Public History, or History
  • Ability to complete physically demanding tasks in urban and rural settings; hot and cold climates; wet and dry weather; and including walking, hiking, and field navigation
  • Must have excellent organization and coordination skills
  • Qualified applicants should be able to demonstrate commitment to growth in areas of importance to our work, including good judgement, technical skills, and communication skills.
