Senior Cost Manager - Real Estate

Description

The UK Real Estate team is seeking a Senior Cost Manager to act as the client‑facing representative from feasibility through cost planning, procurement, tendering and post‑contract delivery. The role involves building relationships with consultant and client teams and contributing to the firm’s digital transformation of cost management using industry‑leading software.

Senior Cost Managers typically lead commissions ranging from £10 million to £50 million, with appropriate support depending on complexity, and may also directly assist Directors on high‑profile regional projects.

• Prepare cost estimates, procurement, tendering, contract administration, variation and final accounts (pre‑ and post‑contract duties).
• Complete feasibility studies.
• Produce and present final cost plans through estimating and cost planning.
• Manage pre‑qualification, tender list, preliminaries, tender analysis, tender reports and compile contract documents.
• Provide timely and accurate financial reporting and valuations.
• Interface with clients and consultants at all project stages.
• Participate in post‑contract cost variance management and change control processes.
• Perform cost risk analysis, contribute to value engineering, negotiate and approve final accounts.
• Mentor junior team members and share expertise to develop the wider team.
• Deliver high‑quality cost management/quantity surveying services across the full project lifecycle.
• Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
• Apply excellent measurement and cost planning expertise, including use of NRM.

Requirements

• Hold professional qualification (RICS or similar) – ideally.
• Possess a degree or HNC level qualification.
• Demonstrate good knowledge of construction methods and procurement routes.
• Understand various contract forms (JCT/NEC).
• Show commercial acumen with strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Work effectively as a team‑oriented professional.
