The role is for a Principal Scour Management Engineer / Team Leader who will oversee the production of Scour Risk Management plans, assessments, feasibility studies and design, leading a dedicated scour team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the Flooding and Water Management team in Scotland, based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, providing support to engineers and team leaders on a variety of scour‑related schemes.

Develop concept design solutions aligned with project briefs
Perform scour‑related design and maintenance work
Advance projects through preliminary and detailed design, focusing on client needs
Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation, including CDM Regulations
Supervise, mentor and develop team members from senior engineers to graduates and technicians
Assist with contract preparation, project planning and programming
Report project administration to the Project Manager, monitoring programme, resources, budgets, inspections, feasibility studies and cost estimates
Support bid preparation and service delivery on other contracts
Conduct inspections, feasibility studies and cost estimating for works and fees
Manage project‑related correspondence effectively
Perform checks for Integrated Management System compliance and assist its development
Prepare and review feasibility studies, appraisal/assessment reports and other documents
Develop engineering solutions and present options
Complete performance appraisals and provide learning and development opportunities

High‑level experience and expertise in the technical field, typically from a Senior Engineer role
Proven ability to produce or oversee technically sound engineering solutions meeting standards and client requirements
Extensive experience in Scour Risk Management
Experience managing health, safety and welfare tasks, including CDM Regulations
Familiarity with technical governance procedures in a consulting engineering environment
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
Chartered status with an appropriate professional body
Accredited training manager (e.g., Supervising Civil Engineer for ICE)
