Structure Tone, part of the STO Building Group, seeks a Project Accountant II to support construction projects within its New Jersey business unit. The accountant will manage financial activities from project setup through close‑out, working closely with project teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
- Attend project kick‑off meetings as needed.
- Provide end‑to‑end support for all contract types.
- Participate in project reviews with the team.
- Assist in developing cost‑to‑completion forecasts and billing projections.
- Create and monitor general conditions forecasts and monthly actual costs.
- Track change orders and other budget‑impacting items.
- Analyze cost and schedule trends independently to flag potential overruns.
- Audit change orders for accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure sales‑tax compliance.
- Monitor actual costs against forecasts to confirm proper revenue recognition.
- Investigate revenue‑recognition issues and propose solutions with the BU Project Accounting Manager.
- Identify control points and suggest process improvements.
- Review client contracts for billing requirements, allowable markups, retainage, waivers, tax rules and shared‑savings provisions.
- Manage subcontractor progress billings, ensuring compliance and timely submission.
- Review and post subcontractor monthly progress billings.
- Process subcontractor payments.
- Maintain billing contract formats (G702, G703).
- Generate client requisitions and provide supporting documentation.
- Monitor accounts receivable and aid collection efforts.
