With direct supervision from a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician B performs repair and maintenance on diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis components, vehicle refuse bodies, control systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, air brakes, engine work, HVAC components, suspension, drivetrain, and steering. The role also includes basic tire work such as replacement, rotation, and tread depth checks, supporting drivers on a single fleet of advanced vehicles.
Key duties include repairing chassis components and refuse bodies with their control, hydraulic, electrical, and air‑brake systems; performing engine maintenance; servicing suspension, drivetrain, and steering; maintaining heating, ventilation, and air‑conditioning components; conducting welding and fabrication; providing safe road service; diagnosing malfunctions using electronic tools; and completing required company training programs.
Candidates should understand work‑order labor time standards, have experience with light to heavy‑duty trucks (Classes 1‑5 and 7‑8) or related equipment, and hold ASE certifications or a Commercial Driver’s License as a plus. A valid driver’s license and at least one year of relevant experience—or imminent graduation from an accredited automotive program—are required, along with the ability to inspect major truck systems with limited supervision.
