The role supports cokemaking processes by collaborating with plant personnel both onsite and in the office, overseeing operational and maintenance activities, managing improvement projects, responding to emergent issues, and facilitating internal and external communications as part of the management team.
- Develop scope and budget for plant projects, coordinating with consultants or engineering firms.
- Document process changes and equipment repairs for startup communication and future reference.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with onsite colleagues and external partners.
- Coordinate with lab personnel for monitoring raw materials, product quality, and process fluids, especially during troubleshooting.
- Perform plant activities safely, enforcing safety expectations for all workers.
- Facilitate customer communications, including product quality reporting and site visit coordination.
- Communicate plant interests effectively across varied technical audiences and develop SOPs.
- Deliver presentations for internal knowledge sharing, training, and external customer updates or conferences.
- Implement process safety management (PSM) practices.
- Operate wastewater treatment processes and execute purge procedures.
- Apply continuous improvement methodologies.
- Utilize data historian (e.g., AVEVA PI) and CMMS (e.g., Maximo) software.
- Work within a matrix organization, collaborating with functional and business leaders on employee issues.

Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET/EAC‑accredited program and have at least one year of relevant engineering experience in a coke plant, petrochemical, or similar heavy‑industrial environment.
The job requires physical stamina, including standing, walking, climbing, lifting up to 70 lb regularly, and working in confined spaces and varied weather conditions while adhering to safety and PPE requirements.
- Understand the cokemaking process, including raw material receipt, conversion, byproduct treatment, and product delivery.
- Master critical equipment functions and engineering principles of unit operations.
