The Project Engineer is a key member of the project management team, responsible for overseeing safety programs and ensuring compliance on complex construction projects.
The role involves managing new‑hire safety orientation, conducting daily site inspections, establishing and maintaining Job Hazard Analysis programs, and ensuring subcontractor adherence to safety requirements. The engineer also collects and analyzes incident data, participates in root‑cause investigations, and generates detailed weekly safety reports.
Additional duties include facilitating safety meetings, coordinating substance‑abuse testing and return‑to‑work programs, acting as liaison for workers’ compensation claims, and staying current through training seminars and industry conferences.
Candidates must have at least three years of construction experience, OSHA 30 certification (OSHA 500 preferred), strong knowledge of OSHA and building code regulations, and intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Office. Precise attention to detail and the ability to work outdoors under various environmental conditions are essential.
The position requires physical stamina for outdoor work, lifting, walking up to two miles per day, and occasional driving with a valid license.
