What you would be doing

Inspects machines and equipment for accident prevention devices
Tests working areas for noise, toxic, and other hazards, using decibel meter, gas detector, and light meter
Document all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities
Inspects specified areas for fire-prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies
Prepares report of findings with recommendations for corrective action/s
Investigate accidents to ascertain causes for use in recommending preventive safety measures and developing safety program/s
Assist with Human Resources with the recruitment/orientation processes
May demonstrate use of safety equipment
Observes workers to determine use of prescribed safety equipment, such as glasses, hard hats, goggles, respirators and clothing
Coordinates of Safety programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses
Ensures compliance with occupational safety and health regulations
Can marshal resources (people, funding, material, support, etc.) to get things done
May require periodically lifting objects up to 30 lbs.

Safety Certifications: CHST, OHST, CSHO, etc. are highly desirable

Solid training/teaching experience
Able to utilize a computer for word processing, e-mail communication, and preparation of documents and presentations
Thorough understanding and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and Company regulations
Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement essential corrective measures
Bachelor’s Degree of occupational safety/health preferred or equivalent combinations of training and related experience
At least 1 – 2 years of constructions and/or industrial safety experience
Able to communicate with others by telephone and in person
Intermittent climbing, bending, squatting, kneeling are required
Must be able to orchestrate multiple activities simultaneously to accomplish a goal
Must also be able to drive a vehicle and walk uneven terrain
Able to use resources effectively and efficiently and arrange information in a useful manner
