- Lead technical discussions with clients and multidisciplinary teams to define scope and ensure delivery.
- Oversee engineering delivery, set approaches, monitor progress, and quality‑check deliverables before client issuance.
- Apply substation life‑cycle expertise to successfully execute design projects.
- Coordinate with project managers to generate resource forecasts and programme schedules.
- Build and maintain client relationships, fostering trust and a client‑focused delivery mindset.

- Design HV infrastructure at concept, FEED and detailed design stages, understanding AC HV plant, AIS and GIS equipment.

Successful candidates will have consultancy, contractor or utility experience in the UK or Irish energy sector, with a proven record of designing HV infrastructure from concept through detailed design. Familiarity with AC HV plant equipment, both AIS and GIS, and knowledge of National Grid standards are essential, while CDAE/LCDAE approval is preferred. Experience in proposal development, design review, and an understanding of secondary systems, control, HVDC and protection are advantageous.
- Demonstrate commercial acumen by developing proposals, managing project costs, and identifying new opportunities.
- Possess experience with consultancy, contractor or utility roles in UK/Ireland energy sector, including work for National Grid or similar transmission utilities.
- Knowledge of National Grid standards and specifications; CDAE/LCDAE approval is preferred.
- Conduct design and site construction reviews; secondary system design knowledge is a plus.
- Familiarity with control systems, transformers, HVDC, interconnectors, and HV protection and control is advantageous.
