  • Train, mentor, and supervise assigned accounting staff, fostering professional growth and team collaboration.
  • Monitor month-end close to ensure accuracy of financials and compliance with internal deadlines and external reporting requirements.
  • Oversee all external reporting, including HUD, investor, lender, and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Support business needs and department objectives through additional accounting and reporting duties as assigned.
  • Partner with the Senior Manager of Residential Accounting to develop and maintain effective accounting procedures, internal controls, and compliance practices specific to affordable housing programs.
  • Calculate and distribute excess cash from properties to owners and lenders in accordance with agreements.
  • Guide accounting staff through year-end audit and tax return preparation; coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with all operating, management, regulatory, mortgage, and partnership agreements applicable to affordable housing portfolios.

  • Yardi experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex financial matters.
  • Excellent customer service skills to interact effectively with employees, external lenders, investors, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience required, preferably in property management, affordable housing, or real estate.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required, particularly during peak reporting cycles (January–April).
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with property management/accounting software a plus.
  • Proactive problem solver with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • 37.5 Hours per Week
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience strongly preferred.
