The Project Engineer is responsible for providing technical engineering information to the Superintendent and Project Manager, ensuring that construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, and specifications. This role reports directly to the Project Manager and is accountable for delivering accurate engineering support throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include interpreting blueprints and drawings, researching and resolving discrepancies, and preparing field design change requisitions and “as‑built” drawings. The Engineer also prepares documentation such as status reports, punch lists, purchase orders, and change orders, and presents any drawing discrepancies to the Project Manager and Superintendent for resolution.
Additional duties involve supervising field layout and surveying activities, reviewing and issuing valid drawings to field staff, maintaining control of engineering records and equipment, and ensuring all concrete inspections and sign‑offs meet procedural standards. Performance is measured by the accuracy and timeliness of blueprint interpretation, document preparation, and overall document control.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; a preferred qualification is a degree specifically in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. While no prior experience is required, candidates with at least three years of construction experience are preferred.
The position requires advanced computer skills, a working knowledge of construction equipment, drawing interpretation, and applicable building material standards. Applicants must be capable of performing mathematical calculations, communicating effectively, and handling physical tasks such as walking, climbing ladders, and conducting site inspections. Additionally, strong verbal and written English communication and the ability to work under stressful deadlines are essential.
