  • Constitute committees at the BU and Site Levels to collaborate with businesses to review construction scope of work, understand proposal feasibility and identify Health & Safety impacts, liaise with the respective project and procurement teams for ensuring inclusion of all Health & Safety aspects in the scope of work before the contracts are awarded to prospect contractors.
  • Support in establishing an effective Incident Management System across all Construction sites. Investigate serious and High Potential incidents, reports of work-related illnesses and dangerous occurrence and make recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Monitor and facilitate effective implementation of Health & Safety Management System at Construction sites across the Thermal business; set targets & define programs for implementation; review implementation effectiveness and hold feedback & developmental dialogues for onward reporting to BU Head Safety.
  • Oversee all construction & expansion projects to ensure compliance with Adani Power Limited Health & Safety objectives aligning to all BU Level safety imperatives by reinforcing the key relationships of all stakeholders.
  • Oversee that construction work at site shall be carried out in accordance with site emergency response plan to control and correct potentially abnormal, critical or disastrous events. Each work location shall develop and maintain site-specific emergency plan and update as appropriate.
  • Develop robust Project Safety Framework by defining Health & Safety minimum requirements during pre-sanction phase, pre-construction phase, construction phase and pre-start-up phase of construction projects and stipulate accountabilities & responsibilities of the company’s project teams, design teams, execution teams and contractor teams. Ensure dissemination of Construction Safety information’s to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Insist businesses to ensure that contractors are complying with Health & Safety regulations during the execution of contracts and devise mechanisms for monitoring of Health & Safety violations in every stage of contracting and track corrective actions.
  • Assist Central Engineering and APL Project teams in formulating Standard Tender Documents for safety for all critical jobs e.g. Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, etc. to enable effective communication of Health & Safety expectations to all construction partners during Pre-bidding process.
  • Devise Safety Rating System for evaluating all principal contractors’ Health & Safety performance at the end of each phase of construction so that adequate feedback/deviations are captured for improving performance and report status to BU Head Safety.
  • Institutionalize a process of Contractor Field Severity Based Audits at all construction / project sites and raise alerts at appropriate levels for timely preventive and corrective action concerning to site risks, employee trainings, new/safe equipment operation and material utilization. Participate in joint inspection of construction sites along with business leadership teams to review extent of implementation of site audits findings.
  • Review the reports and analyze Health & Safety issues in construction projects, statistics, trends and risks – defining improvements to be made and presenting recommendations to BU Head Safety.
  • Coordinate with businesses to ensure Design Safety reviews are undertaken so that all engineering Health & Safety issues are correctly identified during design stage and safe and practical solutions are incorporated into the design specification and drawings before they are released for construction.
  • Formalize a process of pre-construction meeting with principal Contractors and each Subcontractor before the actual start of work, to express safety & health requirements and verify necessary preparations and planning for the site mobilization.
  • Coordinate Construction Risk Assessments at Project Sites considering all hazardous work activities, capturing critical fatal risk factors and ensure timely intervention by the contracting company to mitigate risks.

  • Sound people skills with the ability to establish and build working relationships effectively.
  • Minimum 15-20 years of experience in Construction Safety Management in a large industrial construction in a manufacturing or infrastructure or a power sector having managed constructions across multiple facilities, cultures and regulatory requirements. National or Regional experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strategic leadership experience and competence with a proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans for construction and expansion projects.
  • bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical or electrical engineering with Post Graduate qualification in Health & Safety / Construction Safety Management from NICMR or any other recognized institute.
  • Experience in developing, implementing and managing a Health and Safety Management System in Construction Projects.
  • Proven experience in leading a team of health and safety practitioners at multiple construction locations at a national level.
