Under direct supervision of a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager, a Maintenance Technician B repairs and maintains diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis components, refuse bodies, control systems, hydraulics, electrical, air brakes, engines, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain, and steering. The role also includes basic tire work such as replacements, rotations, and tread depth checks, and provides road service to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently.
The technician is expected to maintain a working knowledge of vehicle systems, perform preventive and corrective maintenance on‑site and on the road, and use electronic diagnostic tools to identify malfunctions. They also perform welding and fabrication as needed and complete all required company training programs.
Candidates must have at least one year of experience diagnosing and repairing gasoline and diesel powered equipment, or be a recent graduate of an accredited automotive college or technical school. A valid driver’s license is required, with a commercial driver’s license and ASE certifications considered advantageous, along with a basic understanding of work order labor time standards.
