  • Coordinate designs with other disciplines such as Substation Physical, Structural, and Civil
  • Contribute to engineering project scheduling and budget management
  • Participation in quality assurance and quality control programs
  • Perform the detailed P&C design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations. Typical designs include but are not limited to:
  • Work with engineers to develop drawing packages
  • The position includes working individually within a team to complete complex and technically challenging aspects of electrical utility substation design and understanding and adhering to client standards.

  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation; experience with both is preferred
  • Familiarity with Raster Design and/or Bentley Descartes
  • The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
  • Three (3) or more years' experience in utility substation design is preferred
  • Ability to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, client examples, vendor drawings, and such
  • Understanding of protection and control design
  • Electrical reasoning skills and attention to detail
  • Good command of the Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis on Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Candidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
  • Protection and control schematics
  • Associate's degree or equivalent technical education
  • Ability to select materials based on technical requirements
  • AC and DC systems calculations and sizing
  • Conduit and cable sizing/routing
  • Engineering Documentation such as Requests for Information (RFIs), Scope Documents, Equipment Specifications, Protection and Control Descriptions, and Construction Specifications
