- Plan efficient use of materials, machines, and manpower to achieve cost, quality, and inventory goals.
- Supervise shift personnel and machinery utilization, quickly diagnose problems, and reprioritize resources.
- Lead process‑improvement dialogues and conduct root‑cause analysis using ICA/PCA for safety, quality, and production losses.
- Implement corporate initiatives such as STOP‑TO‑FIX, BIQ, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and internal certification programs.
- Mentor and train new supervisors, promote education, ergonomics, and employee involvement.
- Direct 3rd shift assembly operations and coordinate material, equipment, manpower, and quality to meet customer schedules.
- Collaborate with support departments across all shifts for problem solving and work direction.

The Large Power Systems Division is seeking a 2nd & 3rd shift Group Manager 1 for its Lafayette, IN facility to lead shift operations across multiple value streams, ensuring safe, efficient, high‑quality production while initiating corrective actions to remove delays.
Basic qualifications include a bachelor’s degree (or associate degree with additional experience) and at least three years of leadership experience, five years of assembly or machine‑shop exposure, strong communication and teamwork skills, self‑motivation, Microsoft Office proficiency, and willingness to work overtime and across the campus; preferred candidates have LEC assembly experience, Six Sigma/Lean background, mechanical aptitude, advanced degrees or certifications, and engine‑specific expertise.
- Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years leadership experience (or equivalent education/experience).
- Minimum 5 years interaction with assembly or machine‑shop operations and processes.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities with diverse groups.
- Self‑starter with high motivation, customer focus, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to work overtime, alternative shifts, and across the LEC campus.
- Preferred: LEC assembly experience, prior Six Sigma/Lean experience, mechanical aptitude, master’s degree, professional certification (ASQ, SME).
- Preferred: Experience with 3500, 3600, or C175 engine/component manufacturing and management in machine‑shop or assembly operations.
