The Geotechnical Practice Leader will drive the expansion of Langan's geotechnical discipline in Calgary, overseeing client development, staff mentorship, and the delivery of high‑quality technical reports, specifications, and design solutions. This role offers the chance to shape a multi‑disciplinary practice, manage complex projects, and contribute directly to the firm’s growth and reputation in the region.
Key duties include growing existing client relationships while acquiring new business, guiding and reviewing the work of engineers, leading proposal development and project coordination, and ensuring technical excellence across reports, plans, and design recommendations. The leader will also manage budgets and schedules, support excavation design and advanced analysis, supervise field activities such as log borings, and handle additional tasks as needed.
Ideal candidates hold a master’s in Geotechnical Engineering (with a civil engineering bachelor’s), are licensed Professional Engineers, and bring more than 15 years of relevant experience. They demonstrate strong leadership, business development acumen, and a robust network, particularly in the New England area, as well as extensive field and office expertise in geotechnical investigations, design, and inspection. Proficiency with software tools such as gINT, PLAXIS, and related programs, along with excellent communication, analytical abilities, and a willingness to perform field work, are essential.
