SUE Technician III

Description

• Read and interpret utility records, as‑built and survey drawings, and highway design plans.
• Designate existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies.
• Operate and drive a vacuum excavation truck to perform test holes and expose utilities.
• Coordinate traffic control and process “One‑Call” tickets during field work.
• Supervise field crew activities and train junior crew members.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Discipline Leads on project requirements.
• Ensure safety prioritization and maintain a clean driving record.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years experience with electromagnetic and geophysical utility locating technologies.
• Experience operating vacuum excavation equipment (preferred).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work outdoors in varied weather.
• Ability to walk several miles daily and lift equipment up to 80 lb.
• Willingness to travel, work overtime, nights or weekends as needed.
• Proficiency with basic computer software and quick learning of new technologies.
• Fluent in English for reading, writing, and verbal communication.

Benefits

Compensation ranges from $33.00 to $44.00 per hour, depending on qualifications. The role requires a pre‑employment drug screen and ongoing participation in random drug and alcohol testing programs.
