The Warehouse/Commissary Worker supports all aspects of warehouse and commissary operations, including directing teams of inmate or resident workers. Responsibilities include receiving, storing, and inventorying stock, supplies, and equipment used for ongoing commissary and facility functions.
Under supervisory guidance, the employee conducts accurate receipt, routing, and storage of goods and cleaning chemicals, adhering to sanitation standards and codes. They also prepare materials for shipment, process sales transactions, perform data entry on order forms, and deliver pulled orders to inmates.
The role maintains up-to-date inventories of furniture, equipment, and supplies, monitors commissary goods to sustain required inventory levels, and prepares records and reports. It also involves effective communication with administration, staff, inmates, and visitors, applying tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment.
Additional duties include counting inmate/resident workers, controlling access to equipment and supplies, preventing contraband, supervising assigned inmates, and escorting or coordinating their movement. Required qualifications are a high school diploma or GED, at least 21 years of age, a valid driver’s license, and ability to operate hand trucks, forklifts, or pallet jacks; one year of related experience is preferred.
