The Safety Assistant supports Safety Managers with all office‑related safety matters on assigned job sites, conducting orientations, trainings, job safety analyses, audits, and incident response as needed. This is a traveling role, potentially up to 100% travel across the United States, with average project durations of 8‑12 months and daily per diem provided in addition to base pay. Routine home‑return rotations are also offered.
The role involves coordinating and presenting safety training (e.g., new‑hire orientation, fall protection, confined space, lockout/tagout, respiratory), providing safety leadership, assisting with incident reporting, executing job‑site safety plans, ensuring proper lockout/tagout practices, and communicating safety matters with management. It also includes maintaining accurate documentation, conducting audits, inspections, and safety meetings, managing PPE inventory, compiling safety reports, performing drug‑screen collections, and implementing site‑specific emergency response plans.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, with one year of construction experience preferred, and demonstrate a commitment to zero‑injury principles. Required skills include functional computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel), accurate report writing, strong written and verbal communication, hazard recognition, injury management, and strong organizational, time‑management, and detail‑orientation abilities.
