Traveling Lineman

Description

• Work independently and as part of a team to complete assigned tasks
• Install and maintain overhead distribution conductors and equipment
• Assist with removal or installation of large equipment, including pad-mount transformers
• Perform cable terminations including live front, load break, and dead break
• Interpret and work from construction drawings and site layouts
• Participate in underground electrical construction
• Assist Power Services with other tasks such as equipment testing, emergency support, and maintenance activities
• Construct 15 kV, 25 kV, and 35 kV poles
• Manage project files, drawings, documents, and records using KE’s project systems
• Operate and work around bucket trucks, digger derricks, trenchers, and other utility equipment

Requirements

• Strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to make logical, project-focused decisions
• Knowledge of electrical construction or related field experience
• Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs
• Ability to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to manually dig and backfill holes and trenches
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures
• Work effectively under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations

• Experience working with utility line crews and related heavy equipment
• Travel extensively and work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to climb, work at heights, and perform physical labor for extended periods
• Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Willingness to travel up to 100%, including extended overnight stays
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
