The Production Team Lead will supervise and manage all aspects of production at the Henry Company Canada Inc. location, ensuring shift handovers, scheduling, attendance, safety, and communication with management and maintenance teams.
The role includes driving the plant’s safety culture, conducting coaching and discipline, overseeing training, completing paperwork, investigating incidents, and maintaining compliance with plant policies and collective bargaining agreements.
The Team Lead must communicate shift reports, maintenance requests, and scheduling conflicts clearly and professionally, and direct production staff to maintain productivity during machine downtime and line stoppages.
- Arrive before shift start to receive handover from outgoing Production Team Leader.
- Manage shift scheduling, vacation coverage, and overtime requests per collective bargaining agreement.
- Complete attendance documentation for call‑offs and address attendance issues per policy.
- Ensure team attendance at morning meetings, safety talks, and stand‑downs.
- Call out staff when short‑staffed using the tracking sheet as required.
- Lead plant safety culture by modeling and enforcing rules and policies.
- Conduct coaching, discussions, and progressive discipline; document all actions.
- Schedule and verify required training for self and production team members.
- Create and supervise use of permits (e.g., hot work, safe mixer) to ensure compliance.
- Participate in accident investigations and complete related forms promptly.
- Perform regular plant walks to assess safety, equipment condition, and security.
- Complete comprehensive shift reports with safety and housekeeping checks.
- Communicate incidents, plans, and resource needs clearly to leadership.
- Maintain professional written and verbal communication, sticking to facts.
- Submit maintenance work orders in writing and follow up on resolution.
- Coordinate with maintenance leaders on night‑shift duties and report issues.
- Notify scheduling conflicts as early as possible and answer phone calls as needed.
- Direct production staff, monitor progress, and keep personnel productive during downtime.
- Assign post‑stop tasks such as cleaning, repackaging, and warehouse organization.
- Follow the production schedule, adjust crewing, provide training, and hold performance discussions.
- Monitor product quality, collaborate with quality department, and report problems immediately.
- Support capital projects as assigned.
- Lead emergency, injury, and evacuation procedures when needed.
- Work in a fast‑paced environment with exposure to temperature variations, dust, noise, and machinery.
- Be flexible for overtime and weekend hours; operate hand tools, forklifts, and ERP systems.

Candidates need an associate degree or 3‑5 years of manufacturing experience, at least five years of supervisory experience, knowledge of safety procedures, Lean/5S, and basic computer and measurement skills; they must thrive in a fast‑paced environment with possible overtime and weekend work.
- Utilize JDE, ADP, Outlook, Word, and Excel for production management.
- Hold an associate degree or 3‑5 years manufacturing experience; 5+ years supervisory experience.
- Possess knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety (lockout/tagout), Lean/5S, and basic math.
- Demonstrate effective communication, problem‑solving, and ability to use measuring tools.
