Description

The Composite Technician will manufacture and maintain composite tooling, execute wet lay‑up, resin infusion, and prepreg lamination processes, and ensure part quality through inspection and documentation. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to provide hands‑on feedback and drive continuous improvement.

• Manufacture composite tooling from plugs, masters, and patterns
• Perform wet layup, resin infusion, and prepreg lamination for tooling applications
• Lay up fiberglass, carbon fiber, and other reinforcements using templates or projection systems
• Mix, degas, and apply resins, gel coats, and surface coats as required
• Build and install vacuum bags, conduct leak checks, and run assigned cure cycles
• Manage consumables such as release film, peel ply, breather, thermocouples, and related materials
• Prepare, sand, polish, seal, and release molds; maintain tooling assets
• Demold parts and execute trimming, sanding, polishing, and surface refinement
• Apply tool sealing systems, mold release agents, and surface treatments
• Inspect tooling surfaces for defects, print‑through, porosity, and dimensional issues
• Follow travelers, drawings, and process documentation; record material usage and production data in internal systems
• Maintain clean, organized workspaces and tooling assets
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams; provide hands‑on feedback for process improvements
• Identify issues early and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

• Minimum 3 + years experience as a composites manufacturing technician
• Strong sense of urgency, attention to detail, and commitment to high‑quality output
• Ability to read and interpret layup books and process work instructions
• Proficiency with measuring and assembly tools such as calipers, scales, tape measures, torque wrenches, and hand drills
• Ability to lift 50 lb, stand for long periods, and work hands‑on in a production setting
• Preferred experience in aerospace or motorsports and in multiple manufacturing processes (ply cutting, mold finishing, lamination, bagging, curing, demolding, trimming, finishing)
• Willingness to work extended hours or weekends to meet customer timelines
• Must meet ITAR eligibility: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or able to obtain required authorizations
